Game Recap: Knicks Avenge Recent Loss at College Park in Dramatic Fashion

January 2, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

COLLEGE PARK, GA - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, routed the College Park Skyhawks, 113-94, Thursday evening at The Gateway Center. The convincing retaliation comes in response to the Knicks errant loss to the Skyhawks Monday.

After crediting a 21-point lead against College Park (11-10) on December 30, the Knicks (9-11) surrendered a four-point setback to wrap up play in the calendar year. Neither club played a contest between the meeting.

Two-Way Player, Ivan Rabb, raised for a franchise-tying 20 rebounds which included a trio of offensive boards. Entering tonight, Rabb led the Knicks on the glass 12 times this season and by the end of the contest, bested his previous high of 15 rebounds matched twice. Rabb also added 13 points.

Lamar Peters and Andrew White III posted 21 and 20 points, respectively. Peters' load came largely off of a 6-of-13 showing from three-point range as the guard made just one two-pointer. Otherwise a sniper, White III found more success inside the perimeter tonight (8-of-19).

Both teams seemed out of sorts shooting the ball in the first quarter. Westchester shot 37-percent from the floor while College Park only converted 26.3-percent of its tries. Entering the second quarter up 23-19, Westchester started clicking knocking down 50-percent of its field goal attempts and draining four triples each swished by a different player. Such prowess pushed the Knicks up 15 with just 3:04 remaining prior to the break. 14 points would separate the squads at halftime.

With 3:11 left in the third, College Park came within nine, its first single-digit deficit since the second quarter's early goings. From that point until the fourth quarter commenced, the Knicks emitted a 13-5 run that put the hosts back down 17, 78-61.

A 24-point Knicks advantage crippled any hint of a Skyhawks comeback and Westchester evened the season series, 1-1.

Nick Ward and Tahjere McCall both led College Park with 15 points. Ward added 11 rebounds to his line.

The Knicks are back on the court Saturday at the Windy City Bulls. Tip-off at Sears Center is slated for 8 PM ET.
