Marlies Game To Be Broadcast Live On CBC
February 25, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies announced today that their home game on March 21, 2010 against the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, will be broadcast live on the CBC to a national television audience starting at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be available to viewers in the United States on the NHL Network.
This game also marks the Marlies' second annual Salute to the Troops day. Marlies players will wear camouflage jerseys in honour of the thousands of men and women who proudly serve their country in the Canadian Forces. Fans will be able to bid on these jerseys during the game via silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Military Families Fund, Soldier On & the Hospital Comforts Fund.
The Marlies will host more than 300 Canadian Forces personnel at the game from CFB Borden, CFB Trenton, HMCS York and Land Force Central Area. Many of the troops in attendance, who served in Afghanistan, will enjoy the game from various seat locations throughout the arena.
Hockey Night in Canada personality Don Cherry will be participating in the ceremonial puck-drop prior to the game. The first 3,000 fans through the gates at Ricoh Coliseum will receive a free Don Cherry bobblehead.
A limited number of tickets are available for the Salute to the Troops game. Remaining tickets can be purchased online through www.torontomarlies.com or by calling 416.597.PUCK (7825).
