
Johnson Named Player Of The Month For December And January

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans, in conjunction with Morgan Stanley, announced today that veteran forward Jamie Johnson has been named the Morgan Stanley Player of the Month for the months of December and January. With the honors, Johnson has been selected as Rochester's Player of the Month three straight months.
Johnson, in his seventh season of professional hockey, receives the honors after registering 30 total points (10+20) throughout the past two months, including a season-long 10-game point streak in January. After kicking off December with an assist at Manitoba, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward went on to collect 10 points (4+6) in just a five-game span, two of which were three-point games with one goal and two assists each. He would finish December with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 15 games.
His best month came in January when tallied points in back-to-back games and then notched a hat trick against Binghamton on January 10th to jumpstart a season-long 10-game point streak en route to receiving first star honors. In a period of just nine games between January 10th and January 31st, Johnson registered at least one point in each game, four of which came with multiple points, as he continued his climb among the top of the American Hockey League's elite point producers. He closed out January scoring six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in just 12 appearances.
A native of Port Franks, Ontario, Johnson who shows six points (3+3) in his last seven games, continues to pace Rochester's offense in all offensive categories in goals (22), assists (35) and points (57). Averaging just under a point per game, Johnson is seventh in the AHL in overall point production after collecting 22 points (7+15) in his last 20 outings. Further, his 22 goals and 35 assists rank him tied for 12th and ninth in each category among the AHL's top scorers, respectively.
In its second season, the sixth-month long program awards players for their outstanding performances each month throughout the American Hockey League season. The team presents the winner with a plaque honoring their achievements as the recipient of the Morgan Stanley Player of the Month.
