March 18, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies are in search of a sixth straight win on Sunday when they host the Utica Comets at Ricoh Coliseum. It's also the sixth meeting of the season between the two sides, with the Marlies taking four of the first five games in the regular season series.
Friday's 3-1 win in Belleville was the fifth consecutive victory for the Marlies (43-16-1-1), who sit first place in the American Hockey League.
Utica (30-23-6-4) has lost three straight games and have won just one of their past ten games. They come into Sunday's contest after losing 4-3 in Belleville last night.
Part of Utica's success this season has been their power play, converting on 18.5% of chances on the year. Sunday's game will be a close fight with the Marlies penalty kill, which leads the league with an 89.1% success rate on the year.
Ben Smith leads the Marlies in points against Utica this season, scoring four goals and eight points in the five games played this year.
Defenceman Justin Holl has five points (3G, 2A) in the season series, averaging a point-per-game from the Marlies blue line.
Utica's Carter Bancks leads the team in scoring against Toronto with a goal and four assists, earning five points in five games.
Puck drop for today's game is scheduled for 4:00 and tickets are still available.
