Rockford IceHogs News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - Tyler Sikura and Anthony Louis each posted goals in the third period and Jeff Glass stopped 27 of 29 pucks to guide the Rockford IceHogs to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena Saturday night. The Hogs have now collected points in each of their last six outings (4-0-1-1) and sit just one point in back of Grand Rapids for the final playoff spot in the Central Division.
The teams entered the final frame tied at one goal apiece, but Sikura was gifted the go-ahead while shorthanded. As Sikura chased down a loose puck for a would-be breakaway, Wolves netminder Oscar Dansk raced out to meet him, but missed the puck with his poke-check which allowed Sikura an open net to shoot into.
Just over two minutes later, Anthony Louis doubled Rockford's lead as he blasted a one-timer past Dansk's right shoulder. The IceHogs' leading scorer now boasts 12g-25a-37pts on the year, and has recorded a goal and two assists across his last three games.
Paul Thompson later halved the Hogs' advantage, but Glass held strong through the remainder of the contest to earn his second consecutive win.
Chicago started fast out of the gates, but faltered as the game went on. Brandon Pirri put them ahead just over four minutes after the initial drop of the puck, but Matheson Iacopelli matched the marker with a laser past Dansk with 2:07 remaining in the second period. Iacopelli's goal was his first since being recalled from the Indy Fuel on March 10.
Next Home Game: Friday, March 23 | Rockford vs. Milwaukee
The IceHogs host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Friday's contest is Country Night with a live musical performance from local country band, "StateLine," who will perform both pre and postgame on Friday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance can also complete their "Our Town, Our Team" bobblehead series with a free bobblehead of current Green Bay Packers defensive end and Rockford native, Dean Lowry.
