
Maple Leafs agree to terms with Fulghum

Mike Penny, general manager of the St. John's Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the team has signed Luke Fulghum to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) for the remainder of this season. In addition, the left-winger has agreed to terms on an American Hockey League contract for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Fulghum, 24, has spent the past four seasons playing with the University of Denver Pioneers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Pioneers captured both the 2004 and 2005 national NCAA hockey titles.
During the 2004-05 season he earned 23 goals and 19 assists for 42 points in 43 games. He was fourth in team scoring, second in goals and first with four game-winning goals. Fulghum's goal total placed him sixth in the WCHA. In 161 career games with the Pioneers he recorded 53 goals and 52 assists for 105 points.
