Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Amerks have signed Niagara University center Barret Ehgoetz (EGG-itz) to an amateur tryout contract. In a related move, Rochester sent left wing Ryan Bennett back to the Adirondack Frostbite of the United Hockey League (UHL).
This past season, Ehgoetz led the Purple Eagles with 46 points (16+30) in 36 games and was the CHA's leader in points and assists. The native of Kincardine, Ontario, finished his college career as the all-time leading scorer in both Niagara and College Hockey America conference history.
The 5-8, 170-pound forward led Niagara in points the past two seasons and served as the team captain for the last three seasons. In four seasons with the Purple Eagles, he notched 166 points on 71 goals and 95 assists.
He was selected to the all-conference team the past three seasons, earning Co-CHA Player of the Year in 2004 as he led the Purple Eagles to a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
He joins the Amerks tonight as they play the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. The contest will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and amerks.com. The Rochester Americans will open the 2005 North Division Semifinals against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 20th at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Faceoff for Game 1 of the best-of-seven series is 7:05 p.m. The Amerks' playoffs will once again be sponsored by Chase-Pitkin.
