
"Manny Claus" Is Coming to Town

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today Christmas Eve in July with "Manny Claus" Machado Bobblehead Giveaway Thursday, July 24 at 6:35 p.m. as the Baysox take on the Altoona Curve at Prince George's Stadium. The first 1,000 fans ages 13 and up will receive the bobbling Holiday-themed rendition of the former Baysox shortstop and current Orioles Gold Glove third baseman.
Get a jump start on celebrating the holidays with the Baysox. Santa Claus will make an appearance at the game and fans in a giving mood who bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Louie's Holiday Hope Project will be entered in a raffle for Baysox prizes. The Baysox will celebrate the holiday throughout the night with Christmas-themed promotions and more.
The Orioles 2010 first round draft pick, Machado appeared in 109 games with the Baysox in 2012, hitting .266 with 26 doubles, 11 home runs and 59 RBI. He was promoted directly from Bowie to the Orioles where he made his Major League debut August 9, 2012. Machado won Gold Glove honors as the top third baseman in the American League and Platinum Glove honors as the top overall defensive player in the American League following the 2013 season.
Machado becomes the first Baysox player to be depicted as a garden gnome. The miniature Machado collectible is dressed up like Santa Claus, complete with red suit and hat plus a white beard. Manny Claus is holding a candy-cane colored bat and standing on a field of snow. A photo of the Manny Claus bobblehead is attached.
