Roster Moves
The Moose roster saw a few changes go through in recent days. The Winnipeg Jets signed forward Logan Shaw to a one-year, two-way contract and assigned him to the Moose on Monday. The veteran forward had five points (2G, 3A) in seven games with the San Diego Gulls to start the season. The Jets also recalled defenceman Sami Niku from the Moose. Niku has five points (1G, 4A) in 12 AHL games this season.
One and Two
Forward Kristian Vesalainen returned to the Moose lineup this week after missing three games due to injury. The Winnipeg Jets first round pick in 2017 scored his first two AHL goals against the Griffins on Saturday. The game was his second multi-point effort of the campaign after racking up three assists against the Rampage back on Oct. 21. The Helsinki, Finland native has six points (2G, 4A) in six games this season.
Franchise First
With his 23rd save of the game at the 14:10 mark of the second period in Saturday's game, Eric Comrie became the first goaltender in franchise history (Moose/IceCaps) to reach the 4,000-save milestone. The fourth-year pro has been busy for the Moose this season, recording 30 or more saves in each of his last five starts. Comrie features a 4-3-0-0 record, supported by a 2.72 GAA and a 0.923 SV%.
Long Road Ahead
After playing eight of their last 11 games in friendly territory, the schedule flips for Manitoba as the Moose face 10 of their next 12 on the road. The Moose are on a two-game road winning streak after victories in Rockford and Milwaukee to close out their previous swing. Manitoba is 2-3-0-0 on the road this season.
Forward Alexis D'Aoust tallied his first goal with the Moose on Saturday. The Trois-Rivieres, Que. native was signed by the Moose following training camp and joined the club after being recalled from the Jacksonville Icemen on Nov. 2. D'Aoust posted 21 points (10G, 11A ) in 57 games during his rookie season in Utica in 2017-18.
