Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - After missing the first five games of the year to tend to a family matter, the Bowling Green Hot Rods are happy to announced that Manager Reinaldo Ruiz is returning to the team.
Entering his third year as the skipper for the Hot Rods, Ruiz is coming off a season that stands alone as the most successful in the history of the Bowling Green Hot Rods franchise. The Hot Rods set a franchise-record 84 wins in 2016 and won their first-ever playoff game against the Great Lakes Loons in Game 2 of the Midwest League East Divisional playoff series.
"We are elated to have Rei back here and ready to go," said Hot Rods GM/COO Eric Leach.
"Family is the most important thing, and f he is back, it means everything is good to go with his family."
In his absence, hitting coach Joe Szekely was named interim manager.
Under Szekely, the Hot Rods won three of their first five games.
The move is effective immediately and Ruiz will be in uniform tonight as the Hot Rods take on the Lansing Lugnuts in game two of their three-game series and a six-game homestand
First pitch is at 6:35 PM.
