Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had a good start to game one of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Burlington Bees. But, the guests had a better finish as they defeated Wisconsin 4-1 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Los Angeles Angels #1 prospect Jahmai Jones did most of the damage for the Bees.
Wisconsin (2-3) took the lead with a run in the first inning. Demi Orimoloye drew a walk to start the inning and stole second. Monte Harrison moved Orimoloye to third with a single. Ronnie Gideon put the Rattlers in front with a sacrifice fly to send Orimoloye home.
Rattlers starting pitcher Victor Diaz retired the first nine Burlington batters he faced, but his second time through the order was not as uneventful.
The Bees (2-2) tied the game on the first batter of the top of the fourth. Jones lined a 2-2 pitch from Diaz over the wall in left for his first homer of the season. Diaz retired the next two hitters, but walked Troy Montgomery, who stole second base. Montgomery would also steal third base and score the go-ahead run on an error.
Burlington added to their lead in the fifth inning against reliever Dan Brown. Brennan Morgan walked on four pitches and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Juan Moreno's soft line drive to left dropped in for a single to score Morgan with the insurance run.
Gideon and Ryan Aguilar drew back-to-back walks against Burlington reliever Jonah Wesley with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. But, Wesley escaped the frame with a 6-4-3 double play.
The Bees tacked on one more run in the game against Brown when Jones had an RBI single with one out in the top of the seventh.
Mike Kaelin tossed a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to close out the game for his second save of the season.
The Rattlers committed three errors in the game.
