
Bees and Rattlers Split Twin Bill

Appleton, WI- The Burlington Bees (2-3) split a doubleheader with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (3-3) on Tuesday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
GAME 1
Wisconsin jumped out to an early lead, going up 1-0 in the first on a Ronnie Gideon sacrifice fly. The Bees responded, however, scoring two runs in the fourth. Jahmai Jones started the inning with a solo home run to left to tie the game at one. After Troy Montgomery walked and stole second base, the Bees grabbed the lead when Montgomery scored on a Timber Rattlers throw, putting the Bees on top 2-1.
The Bees added insurance in the fifth and the seventh. With a runner on at second base, Juan Moreno lined a single to left, scoring Josh Merrigan, extending the Bees' lead to 3-1. Jahmai Jones capped off the Bees' scoring in the seventh inning, driving in Merrigan with a single, making the score 4-1.
Reliever Jonah Wesely (1-0) earned the win in relief while Victor Diaz (0-1) was charged with the loss. Mike Kaelin (2) picked up his second save of the season.
GAME 2
Burlington opened the scoring in the first inning. Jahmai Jones and Josh Merrigan walked to open up the game. After a wild pitch moved Jones to third, Jack Kruger hit into a double play, scoring Jones, putting the Bees on top, 1-0.
After Wisconsin tied the game on a Bees' error in the fourth, the Bees retook the lead in the seventh. With one out in the inning, Jordan Zimmerman drew a walk and moved to second on a Jeyson Sanchez single. With two outs, Jordan Serena pulled a double down the left field line, scoring both Zimmerman and Sanchez, giving the Bees the lead at 3-1.
Wisconsin rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jonathan Oquendo started the inning with a double after a fielder's choice, Greg Belton walked back-to-back hitters, loading the bases. After Tucker Neuhaus struck out for the second out, Ronnie Gideon doubled to left, scoring three runs, giving Wisconsin a 4-3 win.
Migues Sanchez (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Wisconsin while Greg Belton was charged with the loss (0-1) for the Bees.
The Bees and Timber Rattlers will finish up the series on Wednesday night at 6:35. Andrew Vinson will make his first start of the 2017 season and will be opposed by Nattino Diplan for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium
