Wilson Tobs News Release
WILSON N.C.- Wilson Tobs Manager Bruce Johnson is recovering at Pitt County Memorial Hospital after being struck by a foul ball during Wednesday night's game at Fleming Stadium. Johnson was coaching third base at the time. Johnson was hit in the head during the 7th inning of the Tobs 3-2 loss to Edenton. Johnson was transferred from Wilson Memorial Hospital to Pitt Wednesday night with a fracture on the right side of his head. He will remain in the hospital Thursday night as a precaution, but it is expected that he will not have any complications or long term affects from the injury.
"We are very pleased that coach Johnson is recovering very quickly from the injury he sustained Wednesday" said Tobs general manager James Wolfe. "It was a very scary moment but it seems that everything will be ok. Thankfully coach Johnson was wearing a helmet while on the field which certainly prevented his injury from being more serious. Our staff also acted very quickly to give him medical attention."
Johnson is expected to return to the Tobs bench next week. It is unclear when he will be able to return to the third base coaching box.
