Morehead City Marlins News Release

Morehead City, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins began a three-day road trip in South Carolina by losing to the Florence RedWolves at American Legion Field by the score of 8-6. The defeat bumps the Marlins back to .500 (10-10) and pushes them to third place in the South division.

The Marlins erased a five-run deficit by plating all six of their runs in the seventh and eighth innings but allowed three runs to score in the bottom of the eighth, giving the RedWolves a two-run lead with which they would eventually win the game.

Four of Morehead City's five runs batted in were recorded by the seventh, eighth, and ninth batters in the Marlins lineup. Grant Clyde drove in two on a single in the eighth inning, Danny Diekroeger had one RBI, and Jake Carlson was 2-for-3 with one driven in at the dish.

The Marlins will keep the road hot, making themselves comfortable in Columbia for games against the Blowfish on both Thursday and Friday. Returning to Big Rock Stadium on Saturday, the Marlins will host the Fayetteville SwampDogs on GirlTalk Gynecology Ladies Night.
