Mallards Roll 6-2 in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Quad City Mallards (14-8-2) ripped off six straight goals on the way to a 6-2 victory the host Indy Fuel (8-15-2) Saturday night.

The Mallards responded with three successive first period goals after Alex Wideman gave Indy a 1-0 lead from close range 12 minutes and 38 seconds into the game. The Mallards quickly turned that deficit into a 2-1 lead by scoring twice in just 29 seconds. Brady Brassart's drive from the right wing circle tied the game at 14:07. Michael Parks pounced on a rebound to break the deadlock at 14:36. Sam Warning capped off the Mallards' first period onslaught by finishing off a 2-on-1 rush with just under two minutes remaining.

One goal early in the second period and another late stretched the Mallard lead to 5-1. Justin Kovacs scored the fourth Mallard goal from the slot just 49 seconds into the second. Alex Petan's tip-in brought the replacement of Fuel starting goaltender Eric Levine by Keegan Asmundson at 17:07 .

Just 31 seconds into the third period Nolan LaPorte's power play blast from the right wing circle widened the gap to 6-1. Brady Ramsay did score on a shorthanded breakaway for the Fuel at 9:21 of the third but by then the Mallards were already comfortably in front.

The Mallards return to action on the road tomorrow against the Kalamazoo Wings. The Mallards next play at home next Wednesday night against the Fort Wayne Komets. That game and a ll Mallards Wednesday night home games this season face off at the special early start time of 6:35.
