Last Game

Carter Verhaeghe broke a 2-2 tie late in the third period and Colin Markison scored twice as the host Missouri Mavericks slipped away from the Mallards 4-2 Sunday. The Mavs came from behind after the Mallards took a 2-1 lead with goals from Alex Gudbranson and Sam Warning.

First

The Mallards lead the Cincinnati Cyclones by three points in the race for first place in the ECHL's Midwest Division. The second place Cyclones have three games in hand on the Mallards.

Upswing

The Mallards have won seven of their last ten games and have gone 10-5-0 in their last 15 games after going 5-5-3 in their first 13 outings.

Busy

The Mallards went 1-2-0 while playing three games in 48 hours over the weekend. Sunday's loss was the Mallards' first defeat this season when playing a third game in three days. They won the first three times they played a third game in as many days.

Undermanned

Due to injuries, call-ups and a suspension, the Mallards dressed fewer than the allowed 16 skaters for each of their three games last weekend. They had 15 skaters in uniform last Friday and Saturday and just 14 Sunday.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards (11-2-1) are tied for the ECHL lead in home wins after securing their eleventh last Saturday against Wheeling.

Sunday Fun Day?

The Mallards fell Sunday after winning their first five Sunday games of the season.

Between the Pipes

Steve Michalek ranks eighth in the ECHL in save percentage (.924).

Arch Madness

Olivier Archambault has collected four points (one goal and three assists) in two games since returning after missing three games with an upper body injury to take over the team lead in points (24).

Warning Signs

Rookie Sam Warning has scored four goals in his last five games and scored seven times in his last 12 games after going without a goal in his first 11 games.

Rook

Matt Neal has recorded four points (one goal and three assists) in his last four games and leads the Mallards in goals (10) and plus/minus rating (+10), is tied for fourth among ECHL rookies in goals and is tied for sixth among rookies in points (22).

Blue Line

Mike Monfredo is tied for fourth among defensemen in points (19) and assists (16). Guillaume Gelinas is tied for tenth among defensemen in points (17).

Special Teams

Though Alex Gudbranson scored on the power play Sunday to end the Mallards' 0-for-20 drought, the Mallards have now converted just one of their last 25 advantages. The Mallards are tied for eleventh in the ECHL on the power play (19.0 percent). The Mallards have killed off 34 of their opponents' last 35 power plays and now rank third in the ECHL in penalty killing (87.0 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 2-2-0 against the Fuel this season. The home team has won each of the first four games between the two clubs. The Mallards and Fuel will clash a total of ten times this year.

Milestones

Monfredo has 99 career points. Monfredo (231) is closing in on eleventh place in team history in games played, a position currently occupied by Kerry Toporowski (236). Monfredo has also played 99 career ECHL games...Archambault has played 99 career games.

Ins and Outs

Guillaume Gelinas was recalled by the AHL's Iowa today. Gelinas and Austin Coldwell returned to the Mallards from Iowa Tuesday. Gelinas was recalled by Iowa Sunday. Coldwell signed a professional tryout agreement with Iowa Monday. Monday night Coldwell made his AHL debut with the Wild while Gelinas played his first AHL game this season...Kyle Follmer (upper body) missed Sunday's game...Tanner Eberle (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last two games...Raphael Bussieres (lower body) and Kevin Gibson (upper body) have missed the Mallards' last five games...Kevin Henderson (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last ten games.
