Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Zach Miskovic broke a third period tie and Peter Schneider scored twice as the the Indy Fuel (12-15-2) defeated the host Quad City Mallards (15-11-3) 4-1 Saturday night.

Despite the defeat, the Mallards remain in first place in the ECHL's Midwest Division.

Miskovic snapped a 1-1 deadlock by blasting the first of three unanswered Fuel goals from the top of the right wing circle at 6:39 of the third. Rhett Bly's wrist shot from the right wing boards stretched the Indy lead to 3-1 at the 16:48 mark. Schneider's empty net goal capped off the Fuel victory with just 15 seconds remaining.

It was Schneider who opened the scoring with a power play tip-in at 10:47 of the first period. The Mallards responded at 16:21 of the first with a man advantage goal of their own. Matt Carey's drive from the right wing circle evened the score at one, but the Mallards would have little to celebrate the rest of the evening despite the best efforts of goaltender Brody Hoffman, who finished with 38 saves.
