
Goaltender Mark Dekanich Recalled to Hershey

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that goaltender Mark Dekanich has been recalled by the Stingrays American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Dekanich, 29, heads to Hershey for the first time this season. The goaltender posted strong numbers with the Stingrays, going 6-4-0-1, with a 2.07 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. He also recorded two shutouts.
No stranger to the AHL, Dekanich has played 162 career AHL games and was an AHL All-Star with Milwaukee in during the 2010-11 season. That year, he posted the league's best save percentage with a .931 mark. A draft pick of Nashville, Dekanich made his NHL debut on December 18, 2010, stopping 22 shots in a contest against the Los Angeles Kings. The Colgate graduate is a native of North Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Stingrays host the Norfolk Admirals for a pair of games this weekend. The puck drops tonight at 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow is a USO Holdover Troops Day and it is also a Crews Subaru and Charleston County Parks Family Days game featuring $5 Kids Tickets and $5 Kids Meals. Fans are asked to bring a gift card to this weekend's games for members of the USO Holdover Troops that will join the Stingrays on Sunday.
