Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Defenseman Guillaume Gelinas has been recalled by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild from the ECHL's Quad City Mallards, the Mallards announced today.

Gelinas, who has scored five goals and notched 12 assists in 25 games with the Mallards this season, is tied for tenth among ECHL defensemen with 17 points.

Gelinas, 22, joins Iowa for the second time in the same week. After being recalled Sunday he played his first AHL game this season Monday night against the San Antonio Rampage. He was then reassigned to the Mallards Tuesday.

Gelinas scored two goals and picked up two assists in 37 games as a rookie with Iowa last season. The 5' 10", 185-pound Quebec City native turned professional after a standout junior career. Gelinas scored 43 goals and pocketed 150 assists for 193 points in 275 games over five seasons with the Val d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2013-14 Gelinas won the Emile Bouchard Award as the league's top defenseman. That campaign also saw Gelinas lead QMJHL defensemen in points (92), finish third overall in assists (69) and finish seventh overall in points while capping off his junior career by helping propel the Foreurs to the QMJHL President's Cup title.

The Mallards play at home tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Indy Fuel. The Mallards will welcome the Stanley Cup to tonight's game. Fans will have the chance to view and take photos with hockey's ultimate prize throughout that contest.

The Stanley Cup will also make a series of stops throughout the Quad Cities. Hockey's ultimate prize will appear at R.I.A. Federal Credit Union (12:00 to 1:00 p.m.) and Harris Pizza (1:30 to 2:30 p.m.) in Bettendorf before arriving at the iWireless Center for the Mallards' game. After the game the cup will head to Rascals in Moline until 10:30 p.m. before finishing the evening at Bad Boyz' Pizza & Pub in downtown Moline.

In addition, the first 1,500 fans through the doors this evening are sure to have their holiday spirits lifted when they receive no-lose scratch cards, each and every one of which will reveal the recipient to be a prize winner. Fans attending tonight's game will also have the opportunity to take part in a "bad gift exchange". Fans who bring their worst still-packaged Christmas gift to the game can exchange those deeply disappointing presents for another fan's misfit gift or a voucher good for a ticket to a future game or a Mallards souvenir.

Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home games- including tonight's game- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
