Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

Battle Creek, Mich - The Madison Mallards (19-11) used a 4 run 6th inning to defeat the Battle Creek Bombers (13-18) 10-2 at C.O. Brown Stadium on Sunday night.

The Bombers struck first in the second inning on a bases loaded walk from Tommy Mirabelli that scored Kade Scivicque, but from there it was all Madison.

The Mallards tied the game in the 3rd off starter Mike Mancuso (L 1-1). An RBI single from John LaPrise scored Tate Matheny. Mancuso would leave after 5 innings, but not before giving up the go-ahead run to Madison again on a LaPrise single that scored Matheny. Madison then put together a 4 run 6th off relievers Ryan Lavoie and Kenton San Miguel. Madison recorded just two hits off the Bombers relievers in that inning.

Battle Creek pulled a run closer in the 8th inning thanks to the third hit of the ballgame from Kade Scivicque. His double scored Joe Serrano all the way from first base. The Mallards though would answer in the top of the 9th. Already on top 8-2, Luke Meeteer hit his first home run of the season to left extending the Madison lead to 10-2.

Taylore Cherry started for Madison going 3 strong before being relieved by Sam Forkett (W 1-0). The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow with Kyle Slack (0-1) on the mound for the 7:05 start.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America. For information on tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com.
