St. Cloud Rox Drop Game Two 8-4 to the Huskies

St. Cloud, Minn. - *The St. Cloud Rox and the Duluth Huskies were back in action Sunday night for game two at Joe Faber Field. Duluth take game two of their three game series as the Rox fell 8-4.

Game went scoreless till the bottom of the second when the Rox took a 1-0 lead over the Duluth Huskies. It was the Rox' Blake Headley posting a single to start the bats. On a double by Luke Weber, Headley would move to third for two runners in scoring position for St. Cloud.

Bradley Strong would earn the walk loading the bases. With two outs on the board it was Vincent Jackson earning a walk on four pitches to score Headley.

For three straight innings there was no scoring by either team as the Rox took a 1-0 lead into the top of the sixth.

Duluth would tie the game up though 1-1 in the top of the sixth off a single. The Huskies would then take their first lead of the game 3-1 off back-to-back doubles.

The Rox would make a pitching change to start the seventh inning bringing Alex McRae to the mound. Duluth continued to extend their lead though in the top of the seventh as they put up four runs for a 7-1 lead over St. Cloud.

St. Cloud would come back and have a big inning in the bottom of the eighth as lead off batter Clay Williamson singled. Tim Colwell and Adam Martin both singled and all advanced on an error by the second baseman to make it a 7-2 game.

Charlie Morgan grounded out to second as Colwell scored trailing the Huskies 7-3. Headley then scored Martin from third off a sacrifice fly out to the center fielder posting the second out of the inning. A hit by pitch would send Weber to first before the Huskies would make a pitching change. The Rox would load the bases with two outs but were unable to score as Duluth made a huge stop off a ball down the right field line by Vincent Jackson. St. Cloud would end the inning trailing the Huskies 7-4.

The Duluth Huskies would post one final run in the top of the ninth and hold the Rox to only one hit in the bottom of the ninth taking game two by a final score of 8-4.

On the mound for the Rox was starting pitcher Eric Nyquist as he had 6.0 innings of work and recorded the loss. McRae pitched one inning while closer Tyler Wolfe had two innings on the mound.

The St. Cloud Time's Rox' Player of the Game is Luke Weber. Weber went 2-for-3 including a double and was hit by a pitch

The St. Cloud Rox (13-19, 13-19 North) and the Duluth Huskies (18-13, 18-13 North) will be back in action Monday night for their final game of the series. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening one hour prior to the first pitch.

The Rox final home game of the series will be a Rox School Folder Giveaway presented by Rengel Printing. The first 250 kids 12 and under will get a Rox folder for their upcoming school year. It is also "Military Mondays" presented by Regional Diagnostic Radiology. Active military members or veterans with a valid ID or military discharge papers receive a half priced reserved ticket to the game (available day of game only).
