JACKSON, TN - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that affect the Biloxi Shuckers roster prior to today's 7:05 p.m. series opener against the Jackson Generals at the Ballpark at Jackson.
Brandon Macias, LHP, Transferred from Triple-A Colorado Springs to Biloxi
Tyler LaTorre, C, Transferred from Biloxi to Rookie-Helena's roster
Macias, 26, is making his third stop in the Brewers' farm system this season. In nine games with Triple-A Colorado Springs Macias batted .136 (3x22) with a triple and RBI. Macias' first Triple-A hit came on a triple on April 26 against at Security Service Field in Colorado Springs against the Iowa Cubs. Macias was transferred to Colorado Springs from High-A Brevard Co. on April 22nd. In eight games with the Manatees, the Flagstaff, AZ native batted .345 (10x29) with 3 RBIs and a stolen base.
In five professional seasons, Macias is a career .253 batter. Macias was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as a non-drafted free agent in 2011 and attended the University of Kansas for his junior and senior seasons.
LaTorre, 32, has been transferred to the Rookie-Helena roster. LaTorre has appeared in 11 games for the Shuckers this season batting .200 (2x10) with a double and .385 on-base percentage. The Santa Cruz, CA native has been the most often used pinch-hitter going 1-for-8 with a double and run scored in that role. LaTorre began the 2015 campaign on Helena's roster and was activated on April 18th, when Josh Fellhauer was placed on the temporary inactive list.
The Shuckers are at the league-maximum of 25 players; plus two on the temporary inactive list.
The Shuckers and Jackson Generals begin a five-game series in Jackson, TN tonight at 7:05 p.m. CT. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on WGCM-AM 1240 and the Shuckers Radio Network.
The Shuckers also announced on Monday that individual game tickets for the Biloxi Shuckers inaugural season will go on sale at 10:00 am this Wednesday, May 13, at the Shuckers Team Store and all Ticketmaster outlets.
