BayBears Take Game One, Defeat Braves 6-1

PEARL, MS -- The Mobile BayBears defeated the Mississippi Braves 6-1 at Trustmark Park Monday evening. The series continues with a doubleheader at 5:00 PM Tuesday.

Mississippi (14-15) scored one run on just four hits. Mobile (18-12) plated six runs on 12 hits. Todd Glaesmann led the BayBears with a 2-for-4 night at the plate. He also scored once and drove in two runs.

Sinnery (4-1) tossed 7.1 innings to pick up the win. He held the Braves to one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Silvino Bracho came in to record the final five outs, giving up one hit while fanning one batter.

The BayBears took a 2-0 lead in the third. Brandon Sinnery led off with a base hit to center and Sean Jamieson walked. Alex Glenn then singled to load the bases with no outs. A Brandon Drury sacrifice fly brought home the game's first run. Rudy Flores then singled to center, driving home Jamieson.

In the top of the sixth, Flores walked and Socrates Brito singled. Gerson Montilla and Glaesmann followed with a RBI-singles, making it a 4-0 game. Sinnery later drove another single to center, plating Montilla and extending the BayBears lead to 5-0.

Glaesmann blasted a solo home run in the eighth to make it a 6-0 game.

The M-Braves got on the board in the eighth. Seth Loman led off with a single to right and moved to second on a ground out. KD Kang then delivered a RBI-single to right field to cut the BayBears lead to 6-1.

Jason Hursh (0-3) gave up five earned runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out two batters in 5.2 innings of work and took the loss.

In game one of Tuesday's doubleheader, the M-Braves send right-hander Tyrell Jenkins (0-2, 8.72) to the hill. The starter for game two has not been named. First pitch of game one is set for 5:00 PM. The Braves and BayBears will play two seven-inning games with approximately a 30-minute break between games. Gates open at 4:30 PM.
