Jackson Generals News Release

Jackson, Tenn. - The Seattle Mariners announced a minor league roster move affecting the Jackson Generals prior to their series opener against the Biloxi Shuckers on Monday night. Catcher Marcus Littlewood was promoted to Jackson from High-A Bakersfield in the California League, while catcher Carlton Tanabe was transferred to the Bakersfield Blaze.

Littlewood began the season in Bakersfield, playing in 16 games for the Blaze. He hit .167 with a pair of home runs and 12 RBIs to go along with 12 walks.

This is the fifth professional season for the switch-hitting backstop, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft out of Pine View High School in Utah. He became the earliest position player taken in MLB Draft history out of the state of Utah when the Mariners selected him with the 67th overall pick.

Tanabe started in eight games with Jackson, marking his third year seeing time at the Double-A level. He notched just two hits in 25 at-bats with the Generals, but both drove in runs.

Additionally, outfielder Leon Landry was reinstated from Jackson disabled list on Sunday and promoted to Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League. Landry went 5-for-13 with three RBIs in three games with Jackson this season.

Jackson's roster now has 24 active players with six on the disabled list. A number will be assigned to Littlewood in the near future.

Danny Hultzen is scheduled to start in tonight's series opener against the Biloxi Shuckers at 7:05 pm CT in Jackson. Tickets are still available by calling (731) 988.5299, stopping by the park or going online to jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
