OHL Owen Sound Attack

MacDermid and Otters Visit Bayshore

January 9, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack will usher in a new era on Friday, minus Gemel Smith and Kurtis MacDermid as the two veteran members of the Attack departed to London and Erie in OHL trades earlier this week.

The Attack became the first team to beat the Otters on their home ice this season with a 3-2 overtime victory in Erie on January 3rd. The very next day Erie started a new streak by beating the Attack 5-3 to even up the weekend series at 1-1.

Owen Sound sits in 6th place in the Western Conference and 4th in their division behind 1st place Erie, Guelph and London. 5 points separate the Attack and the 5th place Windsor Spitfires coming into the weekend where the boys look to shorten the gap.

Holden Cook and Daniel Milne have been in great form recently versus the Otters as they both managed 2 goals each last weekend in Erie. The play of Brandon Hope in last Friday's game was outstanding as he turned away 39 of 41 shots for a .951 save percentage in Owen Sound's overtime win. Newcomers Kyle Platzer and Santino Centorame will look to help the Attack get back into the win column as they make their debut in the red and white.

Chris Bigras will be back in the Attack line-up and Assistant Coach Drew Bannister will be back behind the bench as they both return from international competition.

Friday, January 10, 2014: Erie @ Owen Sound

Kurtis MacDermid will be in the Attack line-up Friday when the Erie Otters visit the Attack for a trip to the Bayshore.

Friday's game will be a big one as the Otters have the best record in the OHL at 31-7-2-0 and sit 2nd in the CHL's latest BMO power rankings. In their last ten games Erie is 6-3-1-0. Connor Brown and Dane Fox lead the OHL in scoring this year with 76 and 75 points respectively in 40 games each. Connor McDavid is not far behind them tallying 50 points in 31 games this season and goalies Oscar Dansk and Devin Williams hold a tie for the lead in shutouts for the season at 4. Dansk also holds the league lead in Goals Against Average.

The Attack are 1-2 versus the Otters this season with all games being played in Erie. Tonight's game is the first for Attack fans to see Connor McDavid and the rest of the Otters this season.

Look out for:

Dane Fox has been on fire of late as he posted 4 goals in Erie's win over Owen Sound last Saturday, earning him the first star of the game honours. Whether it be Devin Williams or Oscar Dansk in net for the Otters, goals will be hard to come by as both goalies are among the leaders in GAA, Shutouts and Save Percentage.

Game Info:

Tickets for Friday's game are available at the Owen Sound Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com or by calling (519) 371-7452.

Game time at the Bayshore is 7:30pm.
