
M-Braves Make Roster Moves

PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves RHP James Hoyt has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett from Double-A Mississippi. INF Emerson Landoni has been reassigned to High-A Lynchburg from Mississippi. In corresponding moves, INF Jose Peraza and RHP Ryan Kelly have been transferred to Mississippi from Lynchburg.
Hoyt, 27, was 2-2 with six saves and a 1.21 ERA in 27 outings for the M-Braves this season. He ranks second among Southern League Leaders with seven holds on the season. His .171 opponent's batting average is second-lowest in the league, and Hoyt's allowed the fewest base runners per nine innings pitched, 8.19. The Southern League All-Star had recorded 42 strikeouts in just 29.2 innings pitched. Hoyt was signed as a free agent by the Braves on November 15, 2012.
Landoni, 25, was hitting .271 in 59 games for the Double-A Braves. The Venezuelan was hitting .321 against lefties and .370 in 10 games during the month of June. He spent most of last season at High-A Lynchburg, hitting .276 in 65 games for the Hillcats. He also appeared in 16 games for the M-Braves in 2013, hitting .325 during that time. Landoni was signed by the Braves as a free agent on December 20, 2011.
Peraza, 20, was hitting .342 through 66 games at High-A Lynchburg. The second baseman has 27 RBI and 35 stolen bases on the season. In 14 games during the month of June, Peraza had a .426 average with three doubles, four triples and a homer. Ranked by Baseball America as the Braves sixth-best prospect, Peraza was selected as a 2014 Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star. A native of Venezuela, he was signed by the Braves as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2010.
Kelly, 26, began the season on the disabled list at Double-A Mississippi. He was activated and transferred to Lynchburg on May 23. He's recorded five saves and posted a record of 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA. The South Carolina native spent the 2013 season in the San Diego Padres organization where he combined to go 2-3 with a 4.68 ERA in 51 games between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Tucson. Kelly signed with the Braves as a free agent on November 22, 2013.
The Mississippi roster has 24 active players and 4 disabled.
