Ottawa Lynx News Release
The Ottawa Lynx scored multiple runs in four separate innings on route to a 12-8 win in a slugfest at Lynx Stadium Monday night. OF Luis Terrero led the Lynx offense, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Relief pitcher Winston Abreu worked 2.2 scoreless innings to collect his 4th win of the season.
The win improves the Lynx record to the .500 mark at 29-29.
In a game that featured plenty of offensive fireworks, Columbus took an early lead with a single run in the top of the first. The Lynx responded in a big way, sending 10 batters to the plate while scoring four runs on four hits to take a 4-1 lead in the bottom half of the first. The Clippers would put together a big inning of their own in the third when a Danny Garcia three-run homer off of Eric DuBose was the big blow in a five-run inning that saw Columbus take a 6-4 lead. Ottawa would score two runs in the third to even the game, and took the lead in the 4th. Alejandro Freire's double would drive home the first run of the inning, and then a throwing error by shortstop Nick Green on a Keith Reed grounder allowed two runs to score to put Ottawa up 9-6. In this back and fourth game, the Clippers struck back with two runs off of Lynx reliever Scott Rice in the top of the 5th to get within one. The hot-hitting Lynx would continue to batter Columbus pitching in the bottom of the inning, as Luis Terrero lined a bases loaded triple down the right field line driving home all three runs to put Ottawa up 12-8. After 2.2 scoreless innings by Winston Abreu, Julio Manon closed out the game with 2.0 scoreless frames as Ottawa started off the season with a 12-8 victory.
