Charlotte Knights News Release
Fort Mill, SC - The Charlotte Knights have announced today the selection of their construction management team for the new proposed Class AAA Baseball Stadium in uptown Charlotte. The Knights will begin contract negotiations for services with the construction management firm Barton Malow. The partnership is contingent on associated land swap approvals from the City of Charlotte, the County of Mecklenburg and the private sector.
"We are pleased to be able to enter into detailed discussions with Barton Malow for construction management services for a new proposed baseball stadium in uptown Charlotte," states President and majority owner Don Beaver. "We believe our selection team has a very experienced and professional group to lead the Knights to our ultimate goal of building a new stadium in uptown Charlotte. In doing so we are committed that the local Charlotte construction community will be vigorously involved in the building of the community's new ballpark. "We were very fortunate to have an outstanding list of very accomplished and professional construction management groups to select from but in the end, we were able to tie in Barton Malow to help deliver a "unique" facility for both the Community and the Knights."
"Barton Malow is pleased to lead the construction management team for the Charlotte Knights for their new baseball stadium in downtown Charlotte. Barton Malow is an 82-year old construction company specializing in sports venues. Over the next few months, local Charlotte contractors will be interviewed by Barton Malow and selected to join the construction team," states Vice President, Southern Region Robert Hayes.
Barton Marlow has a winning record in baseball stadium construction management, completing every sports facility on time and within budget, including award-winning First Horizon Park, new home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers; single A affiliate of the Florida Marlins, in Greensboro, NC.
