Lynx Lineup Shake-Up

OTTAWA - The Lynx come home from their latest road trip with a very different lineup than the one that left for Richmond and Norfolk last week. Joining the Lynx are IF Joey Hammond and OF Matt Padgett from Double-A Reading as well as RHP Clay Condrey, who was outrighted to Ottawa by the Phillies. OF Chris Roberson has been recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies while OF Shaun Boyd and IF Michael Garciaparra have been transferred to Double-A Reading. LHP Eude Brito has also been added to the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.

Hammond, 29, was a force with Reading, batting .320 with 33 runs batted in over 64 games with the R-Phils. He has accumulated a .273 average with 4 RBI in 23 games with the Lynx this season. He has a .272 career batting average over nine seasons in the Minor Leagues. He played in Ottawa in both 2003 and 2004, combining for a .257 average, one home run and 62 runs batted in over 193 games with the Lynx.

Padgett, 30, is hitting .232 with 8 HR and 40 RBI in 94 games with Reading this season. He split last season between Triple-A Iowa and Double-A Reading, combining for a .260 average with five home runs and 27 runs batted in over 58 games. He is a career .266 hitter with through his first nine professional seasons.

Condrey, 31, was 1-0 with a 2.66 ERA and one save in nine games with the Lynx earlier this season. He returns from the Phillies, where he has a 4-0 record with a 6.29 ERA in 19 games this season. This is Condrey's 10th professional season.

Roberson, 27, was hitting .266 with 4 HR and 43 RBI in a team-leading 105 games for the Lynx this season. Roberson has accumulated the most at-bats in the International League (433). He is also tied for third in hits (115) and is seventh in the IL in runs scored (59). His 16 stolen bases lead the Lynx. Roberson made his Major League debut last season with Philadelphia, hitting .195 in 57 games.

Boyd, 26, played for the Lynx last night in Norfolk, going 0-for-2 with a walk. He has spent most of the 2007 season with Single-A Clearwater where he hit .231 with 1 HR and 4 RBI in 10 games. He was also hitless in four games with Double-A Reading. He split last season between Triple-A Memphis and Double-A Springfield, hitting a combined .247 with 3 HR and 28 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 108 games.

Garciaparra, 24, had two hits in four games with the Lynx on their recent road trip. He was hitting .247 with 3 HR and 19 RBI in 65 games at Double-A Reading. Garciaparra was Seattle's first pick, 36th overall in the 2001 Amateur Draft. He has a .264 average with 15 HR and 173 RBI in his six professional seasons and is also the younger brother of Dodgers 3B Nomar Garciaparra.

Brito, 28, is 1-6 with a 6.75 ERA in 14 games with the Lynx, including 10 starts. He split last season between Triple-A Scranton and Philadelphia. He finished 7th in the IL with a 3.17 ERA, he was tied for 2nd in complete games (2) and shutouts (2). He was Scranton's Pitcher of the Year in 2005.
