Ottawa Lynx News Release

The Columbus Clippers scored four runs in the first three innings and then held on the rest of the way as they defeated Ottawa 4-1 on Thursday afternoon. The Lynx now hit the road for the eight-game road trip starting on Friday night in Toledo.

Fans can tune in live to ottawalynx.com on the road trip, as for the first time in Lynx history Ottawa will have a full-time radio broadcast. Shawn McCart will be calling all of the action from Toledo and Columbus during the eight game road trip.

The loss drops the Lynx record to 30-31 on the season.

Player Of The Game: Columbus starter Steven White gave up only one unearned run on three hits in 7.0 innings of work to collect the win.

Game Recap: The Clippers jumped out to an early lead, scoring a single run in the first and then two more runs in the second on Ben Davis RBI groundout and a Jason Conti RBI single to take a 3-0 lead. Columbus added a fourth run off of John Stephens in the third inning when Russ Johnson singled home Kevin Reese. The game remained 4-0 until the 7th, when Eddy Garabito reached on a force out, moved to second on a infield grounder and then scored on a passed ball followed by a wild pitch, cutting the lead to 4-1. The Lynx threatened in the 8th, loading the bases with two out, but reliever T.J. Beam retired Andy Tracy to end the threat. The Lynx could not get any closer in this matchup, and head to the road after a 4-1 loss.

Next Game: The Lynx hit the road for an eight-game road trip featuring four games in Toledo and four more against Columbus. The Lynx return home on Saturday, June 17th when they host Scranton for a four game series.
