Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons close out their eight-game homestand with the finale of a four-game set with the Toledo Mud Hens from Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). The Herd is in position for a series win against the Hens as their 7-5 victory last night gave them the 2-1 set lead. A victory today in the final regular season game between the teams would also give the Bisons a season-series split with Toledo. On the mound for Buffalo will be RHP Rob Bell, who defeated Durham last Thursday with 5.1 innings of shutout relief. The Mud Hens will counter with RHP Humberto Sanchez, who has been called up today from Double-A Erie (5-3, 1.76, 11G) to make a spot start.

As a team, Buffalo has walked 220 times, second most in the International League (Pawtucket, 236). Franklin Gutierrez and Ryan Garko lead the Bisons with 28 free passes each.
HIT STREAK: Kelly Shoppach has hit in nine straight games, averaging .333 (13-39) over the stretch. The streak has been a powerful one with eight of the 13 hits going for extra-bases (five doubles and three home runs). Through his first 10 games as a Bison, Shoppach has posted a .643 slugging percentage and a 1.012 ops.
GRAND HITTER: Franklin Gutierrez's grand slam last night was Buffalo's third on the year, and second in seven days. Einar Diaz hit a slam on April 19 vs. Richmond while Jason Dubois homered with the bases loaded last Thursday against Durham. Gutierrez also walked with the bases loaded last night and now has 22RBI on the season.
BULLY FOR THE PEN: Danny Graves and Andrew Brown combined to allow just one hit in three innings of work last night. So far this June, the Bisons bullpen has allowed just four runs in 38.2 innings, good for a 0.93ERA. In seven games to start the month, Herd relievers have struck out 36 and walked only four. On the year, the bullpen is 13-9 with a 2.96ERA and 13 saves.
