Coors Light Pavilion opening Friday

June 8, 2006 - International League (IL1)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

The much anticipated grand opening of the Coors Light Pavilion is finally here. The new facility located above the left field bullpen will have its grand opening on Friday, June 9 as the Red Barons take on the Rochester Red Wings.

Work on the new party pavilion began three years ago but experienced several delays in construction and financing.

Originally designed as a two tiered deck it has been scaled back to one level but still accommodates large groups of people. The upper level will soon be wrapped in attractive banners featuring 2005 National League Rookie of the Year Ryan Howard and 2005 International League MVP Shane Victorino.

"We are very happy that the team we put together was able to turn this lemon into lemonade," said Commissioner Robert C. Cordaro. "The Coors Light Pavilion will now be a viable and important part of the stadium for a generation."

The pavilion will have two areas, one for public use and one for private parties. The private area accommodates up to 150 guests at a time. Anyone will a game ticket is welcome to stop by at any point before or during the game. There will be special food and drink items for fans to enjoy.

The public area also holds up to 150 people and is available for rental on a nightly basis. The first rental will be on Saturday night so the entire deck will be open for public use on Friday.

Both areas will have a great view of the action.

"The view for the field fans will have from the new pavilion is truly unique," said General Manager Jeremy Ruby. "The way it is positioned makes you feel like you are on top of the field."

The pavilion is sponsored by L.T. Verrastro and Coors Light.

Anyone interested in having a group outing on the new Coors Light Pavilion, call 969-BALL and ask for group sales.
