Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx announced today that they have been assigned goaltender Mike Wall from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, and have signed defenseman Casey Handrahan to a contract with the club.

The 25-year-old Handrahan is currently in his second year of pro hockey, having started the year with the Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League and playing most recently for the Florida Seals of the Southern Professional Hockey League. In Orlando, the 6-2, 195 lb. blueliner scored four goals and added 17 assists for 21 points in 36 games. He also appeared in eight contests with Kalamazoo.

Handrahan's rookie season was spent with the SPHL's Macon Trax, where he scored four goals and totaled 28 points and 32 PIMs in 56 games.

"Handrahan is a stay-at-home type of defenseman who makes a good first pass," said Florida Seals director of media relations and broadcasting Adam Minnick. "He's also been a great penalty killer for us and plays a solid game in his own end."

Wall returns to the lineup after his most recent stint with Portland in which he did not appear in a game while filling in for the injured Dieter Kochan. With the acquisition of goaltender Jani Hurme by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in a trade earlier this week, Wall was reassigned to the Lynx with Hurme's assignment to Portland. The 20-year-old rookie netminder is currently 7-7-1 in Augusta this year, posting a 4.31 GAA and .869 save percentage.

Both players will be in the lineup on Saturday night as the Lynx travel to Columbia to battle the Inferno in a 7:30 pm contest. Augusta's only game of the weekend can be heard live on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630 beginning with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicking off one half-hour before faceoff. The team's next home game will be on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:35 pm as the Lynx take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Tickets are on sale now through the club's office by calling (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
