SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls look to avenge last night's tough 6-2 loss against the Las Vegas Wranglers when the two hook up again at the ipayOne Center Saturday night.
SERIES HISTORY: The Gulls and Wranglers have met five times this season with Las Vegas holding a 5-0-0 series edge. The teams square off one more time during the regular season, in Las Vegas March 31.

San Diego owns the all-time series match-up, posting a 12-9-2 record against its Northern Conference rival. The Gulls are 7-4-0 all-time against the Wranglers at the ipayOne Center.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING (MARCH 3 VS. LAS VEGAS): Christian Chartier recorded two goals and an assist, Steve Crampton scored twice and Matt Dzieduszycki added three assists, leading the Wranglers to a 6-2 win over the Gulls yesterday. The first period was the story, as Las Vegas jumped out to a 4-1 lead. San Diego's Dennis Shiryaev made it a 4-2 game in the second period, but the Wranglers came back with two more goals in the third. The Wranglers are now 5-0 against the Gulls this season and have outscored them 29-11 in those games.
GULLS UPDATE: San Diego (25-24-5) enters the day with 55 points, two behind the Bakersfield Condors for third place in the Pacific Division... Bakersfield, however, has played three fewer games... The Gulls are 28 points ahead of the Stockton Thunder for the final playoff spot in the division... San Diego had its season-high five-game winning streak snapped last night... The Gulls, however, have won six of their last eight games... Out of their last 16 games, 11 have been decided by one goal... The Gulls have killed 108 of 120 penalties in the last 20 games (90 percent) and have scored a power-play goal in seven of their last nine games... San Diego is 14-9-4 at home this season...
PLAYER NOTES: Jesse Bennefield has 15 points (6g, 9a) in his last 11 games. His 25 goals leads the Gulls and is also tied for the league lead among rookies... Steve Hildenbrand has 15 points (6g, 9a) in the last 11 games... Mark Wires has 10 points (4g, 6a) in the last seven games and was named runner-up for ECHL Player of the Week honors... The trio has combined for 18 points in the last four games (7g, 11a)... Tom Lawson has won three of his last four starts, stopping 107 of 113 shots (.947 save percentage). He has also turned aside 393 of 427 shots in his last 13 games (.920 save percentage)... Six regulars are out of the lineup with injuries (Darren Clark - dislocated shoulder, Guillaume Fournier - concussion, Richard Keyes - groin, Alex Kim - collar bone, Kelly Askew - broken ankle and Alex Rogosheske - torn ACL)...
LAS VEGAS UPDATE: Las Vegas (40-9-6) starts the day second in the West Division with 86 points, six behind the first-place Alaska Aces... The Wranglers also own the second best record in the ECHL, five points ahead of the Gwinnett Gladiators... Las Vegas has won four straight and is unbeaten in 12 of its last 14 overall (10-2-2)... Dan Tudin and Dzieduszycki each have 65 points, tied for seventh in the ECHL... The line of Tudin (4g, 6a), Dzieduszycki (3g, 11a) and Crampton (6g, 4a) have combined for 34 points (13g, 21a) in five games against San Diego this season... Veteran goaltender Marc Magliarditi is tied for first in the ECHL with 28 wins, tied for fourth with three shutouts and is seventh in the league with a 2.50 goals-against average...
TRANSACTIONS: Josh Newton signed today... Sebastien Fortier was placed on the seven-day injured list after suffering a concussion last night... Darren Clark, who dislocated his shoulder Wednesday, was transferred to the 30-day IR... Matt Kunsman signed yesterday... Trent Clark signed Wednesday... Martin Mandeville was traded to Columbia Monday, completing the Chris Cava-Jason Reimers deal... Chad Wagner and Taj Melson were both released Sunday... Tyler Weiman was re-assigned from Lowell of the American Hockey League, while Dennis Shiryaev was acquired from Bakersfield Sunday... Aaron McKenzie was placed on the injured list, while R.J. Enga was activated from IR Sunday... Keyes, Fournier, Kim and Rogosheske remain on the 30-day IR... David Svagrovsky remains with Lowell...
