THE HILLCATS: Last night Lynchburg split a doubleheader with Frederick to open up this three-game series...The Hillcats won game one 3-2 and lost game two 7-2 in their first double dip of the season...Today is the final game of this series and brief three-game homestand...This will finish out a stretch of 11 of the first 14 games of the year for Lynchburg at Calvin Falwell Field as the Cats hit the road tomorrow for a seven-game road trip...
VS. FREDERICK: Last season the Keys won the season series against the Cats 12-7 and went 6-3 at Calvin Falwell Field...Lynchburg though holds the all-time advantage 144-130 and they are 75-64 here at City Stadium versus Frederick...
LET'S PLAY TWO: The Hillcats played their first double header of the season last night...They won the first game before dropping the second contest...Last year Lynchburg was 0-1-2 in twin billings...
MAKING THE MOST OF IT: OF Alex Presley is taking advantage of his recent playing time...He is now riding a team-high six-game hitting streak and over that stretch is batting .440 (11-for-25) with two doubles, two triples and seven runs scored and three RBI...Last night he went 5-for-7 in the double header with a double, two triples, three runs scored and an RBI...
NIGHT AND DAY: RHP Dustin Molleken began the season with seven scoreless innings in which he had only allowed oe hit and struckout nine...But in his last inning and 1/3 he has allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and has not struckout a batter...He got the start in game two last night, his first start since last season, and he allowed five runs (four earned ) on six hits and only retired one batter before his night was done...
AUTOMATIC: So far this season RHP R.J. Rodriguez is 4-for-4 in save opportunities, including picking up the save in game one last night in the 3-2 victory...He came on in the seventh inning with the tying run at third base and promptly struckout the only batter he faced on three pitches to end the game...In his last four outings Rodriguez has three saves and a win...
STYMIED AFTER STRONG START: OF Maiko Loyola began the season 4-for-7 with three doubles in two games...Since then though he has gone 1-for-32 in his last ten games played after an 0-3 performance in game one last night...
CLUBBING CATCHER: C Kris Watts is off to an incredible start this season...In ten games he is hitting .433 (13-for-30) with five doubles, a triple, a home run, six RBI, eight runs scored and six walks...He is first in the league in batting, on-base percentage (.553) and slugging percentage (.767)...
TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: LHP Zach Britton was selected in the third round of the 2006 draft by the Orioles out of high school in Weatherford, Texas...He made his professional debut with Bluefield at the Rookie level that year and went 0-4 with a 5.29 ERA in 11 starts...In 2007 Britton pitched for Aberdeen at the Short Season Low-A level and posted a 6-4 mark with a 3.68 ERA in 15 starts...Last season he moved up to full season Low-A with Delmarva and went 12-7 with a 3.12 ERA in 27 starts...This season he began the year with Frederick at the Advanced-A level and in two starts has no decisions and a 2.00 ERA...Today will be the lefties first start against Lynchburg...
