Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
With four late runs Lynchburg earned a 6-5 victory in the rubber-match of a three-game series versus Fredrick. It marked the sixth come from behind victory in nine wins for the Hillcats this season. The Cats start a seven-game road trip on Thursday night in Kinston. Catch the live action on the Hillcats radio home FM 105.5 KD Country.
Lynchburg struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning. That lead would hold up through five innings thanks to five scoreless frames tossed by Hillcats starter Ronald Uviedo.
The Keys though, would score their first of five unanswered runs in the top of the sixth inning. In the seventh Frederick would score four more runs to take their first lead of the day. Caleb Joseph, Pedro Florimon and Matt Angle all drove in runs in the four run frame that made it 5-2 Keys.
Lynchburg would answer in their half of the seventh with a pair of runs to cut the lead to one. Pedro Alvarez knocked in his league leading 17 run of the year in the inning. In the eighth, the Hillcats would score two more to take a 6-5 lead. With two outs and two on, Ray Chang smacked a two-run base hit to give Lynchburg the advantage.
R.J. Rodriguez would pitch a perfect ninth inning to secure the win and earn his fifth save in as many chances this season. The win went to Chris Cullen (2-0) in relief for Lynchburg (9-5) who has now won all three of their series at City Stadium this year. The loss went to Brett Bordes (1-1) out of the bullpen for Frederick (6-8).
