Clinton LumberKings News Release

Clinton, IA - The Beloit Snappers continued their domination of the Clinton LumberKings Friday night, sweeping the four-game series with a 9-0 shutout. Snappers starter Eddie Morlan (W, 2-2) pitched seven shutout innings in the victory, striking out 11 in the process.

Omar Poveda (L, 0-5) had another strong start for the LumberKings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits through 6 2/3 innings. However, the three runs were enough to hand Poveda his third straight loss. He struck out 8 while walking none.

Beloit second-baseman Steve Tolleson did all the damage the Snappers would need in the first at-bat of the game, with a solo homer to left field. Tolleson added three more hits in a 4-for-5 night, plating three RBI's and scoring three runs.

Jose Vallejo extended his hitting streak to eight games with a 1st inning double off the right field wall. It was Vallejo's only hit on the night, as he went 1-for-4. Freddie Thon was the only man with a multi-hit night, going 2-for-4 on the contest.

The LumberKings finish the 8-game homestand with a 3-5 record. They head on the road tomorrow to John O'Donnell Stadium for a four-game series against the Swing of the Quad Cities. Game time is 7:00 pm. Listen to the game on AM 1340 KROS in Clinton, or live on the web at www.lumberkings.com.
