
Catcher Martinez Joins LumberKings

Clinton, IA - The Texas Rangers, parent club of the Clinton LumberKings, have promoted catcher Alberto Martinez to Clinton from extended spring training in Arizona. Martinez, 19, wears a LumberKings uniform for the second straight year, after playing in 21 games in 2005. The move gives the L-Kings three catchers and a full 25-man roster.
The Venezuelan-born Martinez hit .307 in 75 at-bats with 11 RBI and 11 runs scored with Clinton last year. He was a 32nd round draft pick of the Rangers in 2004.
