Clinton LumberKings News Release
Burlington, IA - After a year hiatus, the Clinton LumberKings are headed back to the Midwest League Playoffs. Despite a three-game losing streak that had put the playoff spot in doubt, the LumberKings will advance to the West Division Quarterfinals as the second-half Wild Card as a result of Beloit's 13-5 loss to Cedar Rapids today.
The LumberKings will take on the first-half West Division champions, the Cedar Rapids Kernels beginning on Wednesday night at Alliant Energy Field. Clinton will host the first game at 6:30 PM before heading on the road for game two (and three, if necessary) at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids. Both road games will begin at 6:35 PM.
The Kings won the season series 7-6 over the Kernels, including four of the seven games played in Clinton. The two clubs will meet in the first round of the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons. Clinton won the best-of-three series 2-1 in 2007 before falling in two-straight in 2008. Starting pitchers for all three games have yet to be announced.
Tickets for Wednesday night's game at Alliant Energy Field will go on sale starting at 10:00 AM on Tuesday via the Alliant Energy Field box office and by phone at 563-242-0727. Tickets will not be made available online. Box seats will be priced at $8, with General Admission at $7 and Students/Seniors/Military GA at $6.
No 2010 regular-season tickets (Bonus Books, unused tickets, etc.) will be honored for the playoffs. Season ticket holders will have until noon on Wednesday to reserve their seats.
Catch all the post-season action as the LumberKings search for their first Midwest League title since 1991 on AM 1390 KCLN in Clinton or live on the web at 1390kcln.com.
