Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa - The River Bandits bounced back to even their three-game set with the Peoria Chiefs at one with a 1-0 win over Peoria on Sunday night at Modern Woodmen Park.
Quad Cities struck with a run in the bottom of the first for the game's only run. Michael Swinson led the inning off with a double and scored a batter later on Ross Smith's double. That was all the River Bandits would need. Quad Cities only tallied two other hits the rest of the game.
Five pitchers combined to shut out the Chiefs. Daniel Bibona started for Quad Cities and worked two innings. He struck out four batters and allowed two hits. Relievers Justin Smith, Dan Calhoun (10-0) and Joe Kelly all worked two innings with Calhoun picking up the win. He was the only reliever not to allow a hit during his time in the game. Jose Rada (7) worked the ninth to earn the save.
Peoria starter Frank Batista allowed just the one run on three hits while fanning six over 5.2 innings to take the loss.
The River Bandits and the Chiefs wrap up the regular season with Fan Appreciation Day on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The River Bandits are scheduled to start right-hander Jorge Rondon against Chiefs righty Robinson Lopez.
