Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING, Mich. - Jason Leblebijian slugged two home runs, gunning the Lansing Lugnuts past the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 13-3, in the first game of a three-game set Tuesday at Cooley Law School Stadium.
Richard Urena and Chris Carlson also homered for the Lugnuts, who now sit one game ahead of the Hot Rods for sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division with five games left in the first half.
Urena leads Lansing with 11 home runs in 2015, while Carlson hit his first career deep fly as a professional. Carlson finished with two RBIs, a career best four hits and came a double short of the cycle.
Lansing's high-scoring offense mashed starter Chris Pike (Loss, 6-2) for 12 hits and seven earned runs. Ryan Pennell fared worse, allowing six runs and two home runs to Jason Leblebijian in two innings of relief.
Anthony Alford tied a professional high with four hits, all against the starter Pike. The former Southern Miss quarterback finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs, a triple and a double.
The offense provided plenty of cushion for Starlyn Suriel (Win, 5-3), who pitched six innings, allowed six hits and did not surrender a run.
Dusty Isaacs gave up three runs in relief before Carlos Ramirez allowed a walk and no hits in the ninth.
Wednesday's home game against Bowling Green is a Hump Day featuring Humphrey the Camel. Sean Reid-Foley (2-2, 3.57 ERA) matches up against Enderson Franco (5-4, 3.21 ERA).
Lansing's homestand runs until June 21st with three-game series against Bowling Green and Great Lakes. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
