Luciano Acosta Earns MLS Team of the Week Honors
Published on September 13, 2021 under Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta has been named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Week presented by Audi for Week 24. It marks the fifth Team of the Week nod for Acosta this season and it comes after a stellar two-assist performance against Toronto FC.
Saturday's 2-0 win was the first in the brand new TQL Stadium's history, with Acosta captaining the FC Cincinnati squad to victory. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native assisted the Orange and Blue's first goal in the 39', whipping in a cross for Brenner, who skied to direct it into the net with an outstretched leg.
In the 58', Acosta would be the facilitator once again. He found fellow Argentine Alvaro Barreal down the left wing, who cut it back to Haris Medunjanin to curl past the Toronto defense and in for the second goal, with the help of a deflection.
While Acosta notches his fifth Team of the Week honor of 2021, it is the 11th for FC Cincinnati this season:
Przemysław Tytoń - Week 1
Acosta - Week 1 (bench), Week 9 (bench), Week 10, Week 12 (bench), Week 24
Geoff Cameron - Week 6, Week 12 (Bench)
Head Coach Jaap Stam - Week 6 (Coach)
Brenner - Week 13
Kenneth Vermeer - Week 14
