KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 1, 2015) - The Rome Braves kept Kannapolis off the scoreboard over the first six innings on their way to a 3-1 win over the Intimidators on Friday night in front of 3,974 fans at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis (9-12) dropped its series opener against Rome despite a quality start from pitcher Thad Lowry.

Lowry (3-1), the White Sox fifth round pick from the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft, matched his career-high with six strikeouts over 6.0 innings but suffered the loss despite allowing just two runs on four hits. He walked a season-high four batters on the night.

Rome starting pitcher Sean Furney worked into the seventh inning before giving up a run. Toby Thomas doubled off Furney with two outs. Caleb Dirks took over on the mound for Rome but threw a pair of wild pitches that allowed Thomas to cross the plate for the Intimidators' lone run.

The Braves opened the scoring the fourth inning when Jordan Edgerton followed a Keith Curcio lead off walk with a double to put men in scoring position. Curcio scored on a Tanner Krietemeier groundout for a 1-0 lead. In the sixth, Curcio crossed the plate again on a Bryan De La Rose base hit to center field. The Braves took a 3-0 lead in the seventh when Curcio tripled to score Omar Obregon.

Jorge Zavala tossed the scoreless ninth inning for the save (3).

Before and after the game, hundreds of students from Cabarrus County Schools paraded around the field as part of the Intimidators second annual Reading All-Stars Celebration, which rewards students in area school districts for their achievements and improvements in reading and literacy.

The Intimidators continue the 4-game series on Saturday against the Rome Braves at 7:05 p.m. Following Saturday's game, fans can stick around for a fantastic fireworks display presented by Cabarrus Eye Center. Dinosaurs from Dakota and Friends will also be here for Jurassic Ballpark on Saturday.
