Louisville Bats News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - Third inning home runs by Nick Martini and Drew Mount helped propel the Louisville Bats (60-52) to a 8-6 comeback victory over the St. Paul Saints (66-47) on Sunday afternoon at CHS Field. A weather delay shortened the game to six innings.

St. Paul jumped on the board first, scoring six runs on six hits and one walk in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 6-0 lead.

The Bats responded in the following frame scoring two runs on only one hit. Nick Martini got the effort started with a leadoff single and eventually came around to score on a wild pitch. With one out and two men on-base, Jose Barrero hit a sacrifice fly to cut the Bats' deficit to 6-2.

Louisville showed off their offensive power in the top of the third inning with two three-run home runs by Martini and Mount to take a 8-6 lead.

After Reds Rehabber Ben Lively gave up six runs in the first inning, the Bats bullpen made up of Casey Legumina (1-0, 3.24), Tejay Antone (0-0, 6.23), and Connor Phillips (1-1, 3.16) held the Saints to no runs, one hit, and three walks in the following innings before entering a rain delay.

Legumina earned the win and Phillips earned the save.

The game would not resume play as the Bats would defeat the Saints by a final score of 8-6.

The Bats will enjoy an off-day tomorrow before beginning another six-game series on the road on Tuesday, August 15th against the Iowa Cubs. First pitch is set for 7:38 pm E.T.
