Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the six-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 4-0 in a seven-inning game on Saturday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights have dropped all five games in the series to the Stripers.
Offensively, the Knights tallied just three hits in the game. Charlotte first baseman Xavier Fernández recorded a double in the bottom of the third inning.
RHP Johan Domínguez started the game for the Knights and was sharp over three innings. Domínguez fanned two batters over three shutout innings. LHP Sammy Peralta (3-6, 5.54) came on in relief of Domínguez and was saddled with the loss after he allowed one run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice-fly RBI by Justin Dean. RHP Alex Mateo also pitched in relief and allowed three runs in the sixth inning.
Gwinnett RHP Michael Soroka (4-3, 3.21) earned the win after he tossed a complete game shutout. He gave up just two hits and struck out eight Charlotte batters.
The Knights will conclude the six-game homestand on Sunday night against the Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves). The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. First pitch on Sunday is set for 6:05 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.
