Bulls Topple Redbirds 5-1

DURHAM, NC - Bulls designated hitter Alex Jackson drove in a run, second baseman Jonathan Aranda crushed two home runs, including a 431ft homer and shortstop Vidal Brujan went yard as Durham toppled the Memphis Redbirds 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Jackson put the Bulls on the board in the opening frame with a single shot to right field. 1B Austin Shenton scored on a wild pitch in the same inning before Aranda mashed his first homer of the game. The Redbirds answered with a single tally in the fifth, followed by Brujan's long shot and Aranda's second homer to bring the final score to 5-1.
Durham reliever Trevor Brigden (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 SO)) earned the victory, while Redbirds starter Michael McGreevy (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) suffered the defeat.
The Bulls return home Tuesday, August 15 for a six-game series against the Atlanta Braves Triple-A Affiliate Gwinnett Stripers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
