
Loons Smack Two Homers and Win 5-2

Lake County Captains News Release
(Midland, MI)- Kyle Farmer hit a two-run homerun on the bottom of the seventh inning and the Great Lakes Loons went on to beat the Lake County Captains 5-2 on Sunday. The Loons scored four unearned runs on the day. The Loons clinched the series with the win on Sunday. The Loons have scored eight unearned runs on five Captains errors through the first two games of this series.
Great Lakes (28-29) scored first. In the bottom of the first inning, Jacob Scuvuzzo hit a solo homerun, his third of the season, and the Loons led 1-0.
The Captains (19-38) got on the board when Grant Fink tied the ballgame in the top of the fifth. Fink smacked his fifth homerun of the season and the game was deadlocked at 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth Great Lakes re-took the lead. With two outs, the Captains committed one of three errors, which led to two unearned runs and the Loons ere in command 3-1.
Clint Frazier, who was the Indians first round selection (5th overall) in 2013th hit a solo homerun. For Frazier, it was his second of the season and his first since May 1st. The Captains trailed 5-2. That was the final
RHP Dace Kime (0-8) started for Lake County and took the loss. Kime pitched six innings and allowed three runs, two runs were earned on five hits, and three walks. Kime allowed one homerun and struck out eight. Wander Beras twirled two innings and allowed two unearned runs on one hit. Beras fanned one and allowed the homer to Farmer.
RHP Jordan Hershiser (0-0) started for Great Lakes and did not get a decision. Hershiser pitched two innings and allowed one hit and two walks. Hershiser did not allow a run and he fanned three. The Loons used three bullpen pitchers. The win went to Luis Chirinos (4-3). Chirinos pitched three innings and allowed three hits one earned run one walk and two strikeouts. He allowed the homer to Grant Fink.
The Captains will remain in Midland, Michigan on Monday to conclude a three game series with the Great Lakes Loons starting on Monday Night. The final game of the series will feature LHP Luis Lugo (2-4, 5.22) starting for the Captains and RHP Zachary Bird (3-7, 4.42) getting the nod for the Loons. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Dow Diamond.
