Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - Sunday's game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Quad Cities River Bandits at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium has been suspended by rain. The teams will restart the game on Monday, June 2 at 12:05pm. A seven-inning game will follow the completion of the suspended game.
Quad Cities was leading the Rattlers 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with a runner at second, two outs, and a 1-2 count on Jose Pena. Then, a heavy downpour hit the ballpark and forced the umpire to call for the tarp to be placed on the field. Had the River Bandits recorded the final out of the inning, the game would have been official and the River Bandits would have won their sixth straight game.
The teams endured a 24-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth inning. Play resumed after the first band of showers pushed through in the bottom of the fourth, but the severe thunderstorms and heavy rain that fell after the second delay forced the suspension.
The weather also forced a shorter rehabilitation appearance for Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez. Ramirez was to get three plate appearances on Sunday for the Rattlers, but did not come out to play the field in the top of the fifth inning after the rain made the infield slick in the bottom of the fourth. Ramirez went 0-for-2 with a popup and a strikeout before being lifted from the game.
The teams will restart Sunday's suspended game on Monday at 12:05pm. The game will be played to its conclusion and the regularly scheduled game will be played after a thirty minute break. The regularly scheduled game is now set for 7-innings.
Fans with tickets for Monday's game will be admitted to both games.
Show your business card when you purchase a ticket and for $13.50 you will receive a box seat ticket, a beverage and your choice of brat or hot dog. The offer is also available to senior citizens (55 & older) courtesy of Baker Tilly, WVBO, and AM1280 WNAM.
