
Loons Skid Reaches Eight

It was more of the same for the Great Lakes Loons Friday night as they lost for the eighth straight time by a score of 3-0. In their last eight games, the Loons have scored 11 runs.
Jose Ceda (2-1) started for the Chiefs and was dominant in going six innings allowing two hits without allowing a walk while striking out five Loons. Rocky Roquet finished up the night in relief for the Chiefs for his third save.
For the Loons, southpaw Cody White started and pitched well going six innings, allowing six hits, two runs (one earned), a walk and struck out five. Miguel Ramirez came on in relief and pitching one inning, allowing a hit, and struck out two. Garrett White also pitched for the Loons.
Peoria catcher Wellington Castillo went 2-for-3 with a run scored, two runs batted in, and hit his second home run of the season. Yusuf Carter also hit a solo home run for Peoria.
The Chiefs record improves to 7-5 while the Loons drop to 4-10.
The Loons welcome the Cedar Rapids Kernels to Dow Diamond on Saturday night, and lefthander Thomas Melgarejo will take the mound for the Loons against Jeremy Haynes for Cedar Rapids.
