Great Lakes Loons News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Great Lakes Loons capitalized on three sixth inning errors by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to tie the score and take the lead with three in the inning in a 4-3 win Thursday night.

The game featured a rehabilitation assignment by Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who is coming off a broken right hand. Lucroy started at catcher, batting third, and went 2-for-3. He committed a throwing error, catching five innings before leaving the game.

Trailing 2-0, the Loons scored three unearned runs in the sixth to take the lead. With one out, Wisconsin starter Matt Miller struck out Darnell Sweeney on a ball in the dirt. Catcher Rafael Neda, in his first inning replacing Lucroy, fired errantly to first. With two on and two outs, O'Koyea Dickson singled to left field, but the ball rolled past Lance Roenicke for a two-base error bringing home two runs to tie the score. One pitch later, Scott Schebler singled to left to give the Loons the lead.

In the next inning, the Loons' top rated prospect James Baldwin showed off his highest rated tool. At second with one out, Baldwin tagged on a fly out by Joe Winker to the warning track in right field. With the throw coming in towards second, Baldwin blazed past third and scored on a sac fly.

Lefty Greg Wilborn, making his first start in his third stint with the Loons, allowed two runs over five innings to record the win. Steven Rodriguez, the Dodgers' second round pick this year out of Florida, notched his first pro save, striking out three in a scoreless ninth.

Miller was the Timber Rattlers' tough-luck loser, allowing just one earned run over seven solid innings.

The Loons (12-14 second half, 46-50 overall) conclude their three-game series Friday night at Fox Cities Stadium. Game time is 8:05pm ET. Lucroy is scheduled to continue his rehab in the game. Right-hander Duke von Schamann, the Dodgers' 15th-round selection in this year's draft, is scheduled to start for the Loons. He will be opposed by righty Chad Pierce (3-3, 3.86) for the home team.
